Mungo Brush to Newcastle
the Pidgeon-kicking Principle
Up at 5:30 to catch the sun rise over the dune. Just not early enough to set up the camera before the sun is up.
Watching a pair of hawks (eagles? bird-of-prey.) and a pair of crows dog-fighting for air and treetop supremacy. Screeching and flapping and general carrying-on. Very evenly matched, considered. Crows take to the trees and use guerilla tacticts where the eagles (whatever) are too big, but crows are inferior in the air. Better than TV. Certainly better than 6am TV.
The Pidgeon-kicking Principle by S.Haines I kick pidgeons on principle. Not because I like kicking pidgeons Not because pidgeons deserve a good kicking Not because being a pidgeon is wrong But because there is a principle at stake; the pidgeon-kicking principle. I routinely detain asylum seekers. Not because I like to detain asylum seekers Not because asylum seekers deserve to be detained Not because seeking asylum is wrong But because there is a principle at stake; the pidgeon-kicking principle. And because I can. Actually I sometimes enjoy kicking pidgeons. It's fun. Try it.
